How a free AI astrologer works: what it can and cannot do
An AI astrologer is a computer program that talks about your Vedic birth chart. This guide explains, honestly, how Vedikshana's free guide works, what it is good for, where it stops, and the guardrails we put around it.
What "AI astrologer" really means
When you use Vedikshana, you are not talking to a person. The replies in the chat are written by an AI, a computer program that has been given your chart and instructions on how to speak about it. It can explain the traditional meaning of your ascendant, your Moon sign or your current dasha period in plain language, in English, Hindi or Hinglish, and it can answer follow-up questions at any hour.
The AI guide is free to use. We say this clearly because astrology online is often a funnel to paid products, and we would like you to know what you are getting.
How it works, step by step
First, you share your date, time and place of birth. Second, a chart engine, which is ordinary calculation and not AI, works out where the planets were, your ascendant, houses, Moon sign and dasha periods. Third, the AI is given that chart and writes explanations and answers based on it and on traditional astrological ideas. Keeping the maths separate from the language is deliberate: the positions come from calculation, and the AI explains.
If you do not know your birth time, the chart leaves out the ascendant and houses, and the guide says that timing is approximate, rather than guessing.
What it can do well
Used as a thinking companion, an AI guide can be useful in a few ways:
- Explain terms such as lagna, rashi, nakshatra, mahadasha and antardasha in simple words.
- Describe what a planet or house is traditionally said to signify.
- Help you put your own questions into words and look at them from more than one side.
- Answer in the language you are comfortable with, and as many times as you like, without hurry.
What it cannot do
It cannot predict your future. Nobody can, and astrology is a tradition of interpretation, not a science. Different astrologers can read the same chart in different ways. The AI can also be wrong, or can sound surer than it should, so please use your own judgement and treat what it says as something to reflect on.
It is not a doctor, a lawyer, a financial adviser or a counsellor. Nothing here is medical, mental-health, legal or financial advice, and it should not be used to decide such matters. It is also not a human astrologer. One-to-one sessions with a human astrologer are planned, but not available yet, and would be clearly marked as a separate service.
Our guardrails
We have set some firm limits on how the guide behaves. In plain terms:
- Guidance and reflection, not prediction or advice. No outcome is promised, and no fear is used.
- No health, money or legal direction. The guide points you to a qualified professional for those.
- No paid remedies. We do not sell poojas, yantras, gemstones or amulets, and the guide will not ask you to buy one.
- Care in a crisis. If someone seems to be in distress, the guide encourages them to reach out: call 112 in an emergency, or Tele-MANAS on 14416, the Government of India's free mental-health helpline.
- Adults only. You confirm you are 18 or older before you begin.
Your information
We use your birth details to work out your chart, and your chats to make the guidance personal to you. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising. You can delete your account and your data at any time. You can read the privacy notice for the full detail.
A good way to use it
Come with a real question, such as what a particular period is traditionally said to mean, or how to think about a theme in your life. Read the answer as one thoughtful perspective, not as a ruling. Then talk to the people who know you. If you are curious, you can begin with the guides on what a kundli is and on the dasha, and then try the free AI guide with your own chart.
This is traditional knowledge shared for reflection, not prediction, advice or a promise of any outcome. For health, money or legal matters, please speak to a qualified professional.
